My name is Andrew (Andy) Walsh and I’m a recent graduate based in Macon, Georgia, but open to relocation. While most of my experience comes from journalism bylines and newsroom expertise, I’m open to a wide variety of reporting, communications and other editorial opportunities.
At the University of Georgia, I majored in journalism, minored in film studies and earned a certificate from UGA’s New Media Institute.
I worked at The Red & Black, UGA’s independent student newspaper, from October 2018 to May 2021, working in various roles during my time. I was the head editor and assistant editor of the sports desk, as well as a beat writer for women’s tennis, softball, men’s basketball and more. I also did additional work for the news and culture desks.
Aside from my work at The Red & Black, I published Elections 2020 coverage with Grady Newsource and I produced feature stories, reviews and much more during my time at UGA.
My career has taken a back seat in the past year or so since graduation due to unforeseen circumstances. I have been a caregiver for my younger brother — who has Autism and Down syndrome — during that time. I have provided 24/7 care for him and spent additional time reading, researching, writing and reflecting on my past experiences to keep my skills sharp.
With a hectic year behind me, I’m prepared to put my full focus into a job search. Please click through my website to check out my samples and resume!
